The Ministry of Communication and Information, through the Directorate General of Public Communication Information in collaboration with Palangka Raya University held a Simultaneous Election Socialization 2024 “Choosing For Indonesia Goes To Campus” Episode 4 with the theme “Come on, Convey Your Aspirations. Young people!”. The socialization forum was held at the Palangka Hall of Palangka Raya University, Wednesday, September 13, 2023, by presenting expert and competent speakers in their fields.
Rector of Palangka Raya University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Salampak, M.S, in his speech said that this socialization forum is expected to increase community participation, especially the younger generation and create conducive conditions during the 2024 Simultaneous Elections, in accordance with Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections Article 434 Paragraph (2) letters c and d, it is necessary to carry out socialization of election laws and regulations and carry out political education for voters to increase community participation in elections. “I congratulate you on participating in the socialization forum activities, let us together succeed in organizing the 2024 Simultaneous Elections and strengthening the spirit of nationality to eliminate the potential for social conflict and disharmonization in the midst of society, both during pre- and post-election 2024 later and jointly anticipate the circulation of hoax news, and most importantly use your voting rights.”
Director General of Public Communication Information of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Dr. Usman Kansong, in his introduction said that based on KPU data on the level of voter participation in the 2019 Presidential election, there were five lowest provinces, namely, Central Kalimantan Province was one of them with a record of 79.95 percent. Therefore, in addition to increasing the participation of voters, especially the younger generation, low participation areas, the government is also obliged to equip all Indonesian people with messages/information that form mental attitudes and behaviors that uphold democratic values. The younger generation plays an important role in every democratic party agenda, the younger generation is also expected to be the spearhead in channeling information and increasing the number of participants in the democratic party.
The Simultaneous Election socialization forum activities are expected to increase public knowledge and awareness, especially the younger generation, students in universities in Palangka Raya City, to increase public participation in the 2024 Simultaneous Elections and Increase community action and participation, especially the younger generation, students in universities in Palangka Raya City, to increase public participation in the 2024 Simultaneous Elections.
